(Tropaeolum tuberosum) es un tub\u00e9rculo andino, originario de los Andes Centrales en concentraci\u00f3n mayoritaria en Per\u00fa, Bolivia y Ecuador, planta herb\u00e1cea de car\u00e1cter rastrero, tallos cil\u00edndricos y se cultiva en alturas mayores a los 3500msnm, con grandes beneficios para la salud de las personas, se dice que es un potente antioxidante protector contra los radicales libres (causantes del envejecimiento celular), bueno para el tratamiento del c\u00e1ncer de colon, del est\u00f3mago y de la pr\u00f3stata adem\u00e1s de ser utilizado como diur\u00e9tico, por su contenido de isotiocianato, inhibidor del crecimiento de las c\u00e9lulas inflamadas por acumulaci\u00f3n de las grasas, el estr\u00e9s y la la mashua en su preparado natural sirve de protecci\u00f3n del coraz\u00f3n por sus contenidos igualmente de antioxidantes, vitaminas como la E y C, consecuentemente bueno para los que tienen problemas cardiovasculares ya que fortalecen los vasos sangu\u00edneos, por ello es bueno manifestar que seg\u00fan estudios la mashua negra por su contenido de antocianinas de color azul-purpura tienen un poder curativo especialmente al col\u00e1geno corporal que provoca su s\u00edntesis, impidiendo que los oxidantes da\u00f1en los tejidos, las inflamaciones y las alergias.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Seg\u00fan Quispe et al, en el estudio sobre el consumo de la mashua en la zona andina manifiesta resumidamente que actualmente, los pobladores andinos m\u00e1s pobres lo usan en su alimentaci\u00f3n y forma parte de su cultura, es precisamente en las parcelas de dichos agricultores donde la diversidad de la mashua a\u00fan se conserva, sin embargo, en zonas donde se han introducido cultivos con mayor demanda del mercado o la actividad agr\u00edcola, viene siendo reemplazado por otros econ\u00f3micamente m\u00e1s rentables, por ello, la diversidad de este cultivo est\u00e1 disminuyendo, y dice adem\u00e1s que en la actualidad no existe un grupo de caracteres morfol\u00f3gicos que puedan ser utilizados como descriptores estandarizados para el estudio de la diversidad de la mashua, y las pocas investigaciones realizadas indican a la Regi\u00f3n Cusco como la zona que estar\u00eda albergando la mayor variabilidad de este cultivo\u00b9<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Asi mismo investigadores como Roca y Manrique mencionan que en la regi\u00f3n andina se encuentra un grupo de ra\u00edces y tub\u00e9rculos que adquieren un rol importante en la seguridad alimentaria de la poblaci\u00f3n, de las cuales se tiene un conocimiento ancestral muy rico sobre usos, propiedades y formas de consumo, contienen nutrientes primarios y metabolitos Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid (UAM) y publicado en la revista Phytochemistry, demostr\u00f3 que mol\u00e9culas aisladas de&nbsp;<em>Tropaelum tuberosum&nbsp;<\/em>recolectada en Bolivia, ten\u00edan actividad anticancer\u00edgena sobre las l\u00edneas celulares tumorales de pulm\u00f3n, ri\u00f1\u00f3n, vejiga y pr\u00f3stata, por lo que podr\u00eda utilizarse para desarrollar nuevas terapias para combatir el c\u00e1ncer.
